We ask that all members keep their personal avatars to a MAXIMUM of 100x100 in size. (See my image for example of that size.) This is more then enough to permit a decent image and larger then the restriction on ezboard.

If you violate that and post an excessively large avatar, it will not only be deleted, but your rights to an avatar will be removed permanently. I'm not giving individual warnings. If you can't respect the rules, you will lose the right. It's as simple as that.

Additionally, though it should go without saying, pornographic avatars are utterly not permitted. Violent or hate-promoting avatars are not either.

The beauty of this new system is that only the offenders will lose their rights. Members who comply with the rules can enjoy all the perks and extras. The few rotten apples won't spoil it for the rest of us.

Please check your avatars and resize or replace them if they're too large. There are several free programs you can use to make your own:

http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm
http://www.xemico.com/photogadget/
http://www.soft32.com/download_103974.html
http://www.gifworks.com/ (animated icons)
http://eee.uci.edu/toolbox/imageresize/ (resize online)

There are many more programs available with a quick search on google as well that you can make use of.

Thank you,
-m

Edit to add: No, I will NOT make an exception if you "didn't know" it was too big or you "didn't realize" there was a size limit. The only way to be fair for everyone is to enforce the rules WITHOUT exception. Please do not ask me or any other Official to reinstate your rights.

Is 125x125px 50 kb okay? I'll shrink it further if you want, I know what it's like to be tight on bandwidth. I just wanted to check with you first.

If you can resize it to 100x100 px you can't go wrong and we are happy

How does one tell how big their avatar is? Is there information somewhere on the site saying how big it is, or do we just have to find out for ourselves?

Well, you should kinda know before you upload it. And to find out afterwards, right-click and do properties. In fact, yours is outside the limits at 120x120. Please remove it else I'll remove it permanently. When you resize it appropriately, you can then re-upload it.

I used Microsoft Photo Editor, but almost every graphics program will have a tool bar that will show you what eh properties are, and it is a simple matter to resize it.

I figured out that when you use photobucket to hold your pic ( www.photobucket.com ) , when you upload it, there is an option to upload it as an avi automatically.

Please refer to the resources in the first post. No, I do not resize people's avatars for them.

sorry, I did refer to "If you need help in resizing them, feel free to ask the Officials. I'll be happy to resize your current one if you lack program to do it yourself." maybe I haven't understood the meaning.
I'll try but I'm really feared from the menace: "If you violate that and post an excessively large avatar, it will not only be deleted, but your rights to an avatar will be removed permanently"

Well, sure.. in a perfect world. But right now we really are too busy to edit avatar pics for members, so no. It's a simple process. If you lack the tools or the know how, I'm certain you know someone who will do it for you without too much hassle. Besides...If we did it for one, it would never be to their satisfaction, yet in spite of that, everyone would want us to do theirs too. Best policy is not to do it for anyone.

I resized it using Paint.

You open the photo that you wish to resize and you do a check up of the size on

Image > atribute

The size in px will show in Height and Width... If you choose to 100 x 100 right there and then you will notice the photo will be cropped but alot will be cut out...so you must play with it's size on

Image > Resize/Skew

Note: If you did something wrong Ctrl + Z will back step on what you did... So it helps.

I hope this helps some if you out <3
